GOD PRESENTS HIS MYSTERY TO
US
Brothers, we praise to God, the father
of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the Holy Spirit that comes from both
and who makes us to know every day his bottomless mystery of love for
us. Because of faith in this God, one God in three people, we have been
children of Him by the love that he has for us; thanks to this faith
which is a gift of his Spirit, we can call with all confidence and truth
“Father” to our God, the unique and true one who has shown
Jesus to us, our brother and Lord.
My brothers, today in the Church we celebrate the great central mystery
of our faith: faith in only one God, One God and three people. It is
about the central mystery of the christian faith that without it we
can not be called chistians. Because, my dear brothers, there are several
ways to refer to God, but the proper of the Christianity is the faith
in The Trinity. The God in who we believe, he is not a vague and impalpable
concept. It is rather a God with a face that has been revealed to us
in Jesus Christ, the Son of God and our brother.
Brothers, we do know that because of faith that the father sent his
Son to give us the mistery of His being –because Christ is the
face of the father- in order to know Him we experience His love, and
receiving it and being grateful with him, we enter in the depth of his
mystery. ¡The salvation consists in that!, it is not another thing,
it is just that.
For that reason, it is very important that we understand more, every
day, with the help of His Spirit, which is the work that God does in
favour of us through each of the divine people, and to achieve this
understanding He sent His Spirit to us, according to the Gospel of Saint
John that we just listened.
Let us see how the word of God helps us to understand it, which is as
neccesary as surprising, through the things that the readings from this
sunday say to us.
In the first reading we listened to the “wisdom of God”
personified that speaks about itself as somebody that has his origen
in God and that presents from the creation of the world and that has
the task of leading the men to God. Brothers, for christians, the text
reveals an aspect of the mystery of Christ, the Son of God. Living word
of God. It is the wisdom of God, as Saint Paul (1 Co 1,24) called it.
Wisdom that reveals to us (better than nothing and than nobody) the
true God´s face our father who loves us with sweetness and mercy.
This wisdom does not just reveal only God to us, but it discovers the
deepest reality of ourselves: which is about that we are the result
of His wisdom and for than reason, we have been created for Him. We
know in Christ, by the faith that His Spirit instills into us, that
everything has its total sense in Him, because everything has been created
by Christ, that in Christ, everything has its consistency, and that
its sense is in Him. So, the good thing, the beautiful thing, life and
what are derived from these: the arts, science, history and all the
human reality; everything reveals the kindness of God in who we believe,
because the Son is in the origin and in the destiny of everything that
exists. The sciences have still a lot to explain to us, but the last
reason of everything that exists is in the creative wisdom of God who
is His Son.
The second reading gives us a group of gifts and goods that have been
given us: in the first place the peace that Christ has obtained us through
faith in Him; the access to the grace of God, to the hope of the glory
of God; but specially the love of God which has been spilled in us by
the Holy Spirit who has been given us. This is the gift by excellence
that Christ achieved with his Holy Spirit for us. Here is the true explanation
of our existence. My brothers, that´s why I have said that the
revelation of the mystery of God ,who is three people and only one God,
and who is also revelation of our being, because when we know that our
origin and destiny are in the Lord, we can keep ourselves in patience
and in hope amoung the tribulations and oppositions that are present
in the way throung this world.
In the Gospel we listened to Jesus, who on the verge of leaving his
disciples at previous night of his passion, he assured them the gift
of his Spirit of truth that will make the work to lead them in the knowledge,
every day deeper and with the truth, of all that He has taught them.
Indeed Jesus had said and made many things before the disciples, but
it was so clear that until the previous day to his passion, they did
not understand many things of them. Jesus knew well that he would had
to say many more things to them, but for the moment they could not understand
them because they need a special capacity which would give them the
Holy Spirit. In this way, it is as the Spirit gives glory to Christ,
in the same way that the Christ does it with respect to the Father from
whom has received everything.
Therefore, brothers, we have only one revelation that has its source
in the Father, it is made through the Son and it is fulfilled in the
believers through the Holy Spirit that closes the dynamics of faith
and the love between God and his creatures the human beings.
All the life of the Church develops in the mistery of the Trinity. The
Eucharist is the most perfect expression of this mysterious reality,
which is very fundamental for the life of the believers. In the Eucharist,
my brothers, we direct our pray of praise, of plea for forgiveness and
the request, together with our brother and with the Lord Jesus Christ
and moved by the love of God that makes us to experience his Spirit.
Through the Scripture, the Spirit makes us to understand better, every
time, and with more depth, his word that sanctifies to us and transforms
us, as Church or believing community, into temple of Him in the middle
of the world to be witnesses of the wonders of God.
Our Lady is in the middle of the Church, the mother of God, our little
girl Holy Mary of Guadalupe teaches us, and She accompanies us in this
way, every time more joyful, although not without suffering, towards
the motherland where the father waits for us.
