Christological Room

      This space exhibits works illustrating the life of Christ. As a devout believer in the teachings of Christ, the Catholic Church has emphasized the diffusion of his doctrine through images. The pieces on display here come from very different eras but are the product of similar intentions.

        Colonial paintings in general appeal to our senses and emotions. From another time period, the great nineteenth-century canvas by Juan Cordero (1822–1884) entitled The Redeemer and the Adulterous Wife is a clear example of academicist painting.
