Located
behind the Expiatory Temple (the Old Basilica), the Museum occupies
a section built in the late 1930s and spaces that once formed
part of the Sanctuary’s administrative and liturgical annexes
(sacristy, chapter house, bishops’ room, courtyard, collectarium,
and so forth) but have been ceded to the Museum over time.
